Highlands County has a lot more pasture than pavement, and many of the Yamahas we sell here go to work. A Kodiak checking water troughs on a cow-calf operation near Venus. Grizzly and Kodiak ATVs
Grizzly EPS is Yamaha's flagship utility quad, with power steering and the muscle for towing and heavy racks. XT-R and Camo versions add styling and equipment for hunters and people who spend long days on the machine.
Kodiak 700 and Kodiak 450 are lighter and simpler, offered with and without EPS, and they suit most fence, feed and property jobs. Grizzly 110 is the youth utility quad. On the sport side, Raptor 700R and YFZ450R are for experienced riders, and Raptor 110 and YFZ50 are sized for kids.
Viking and Wolverine RMAX
Viking EPS is the utility side by side with a bench seat and a dump bed, and Viking VI EPS seats six. Ranch Edition versions come set up for working properties. For a cattle or grove operation where the crew rides together, the Viking is the one to sit in first.
Wolverine RMAX2 and RMAX4 1000 are recreation machines with real cargo room, in two and four seat versions, and the RMAX4 Compact trims are narrower for tighter tracks. Wolverine X2 and X4 850 XT-R round out the family.
YXZ1000R pure sport
YXZ1000R is the side by side for people who like to drive. It uses a sequential gearbox rather than a belt CVT, which gives it a very different feel from most sport machines. SS versions add paddle shifting and SS XT-R adds more equipment.
It is a sport machine first. If your riding is sand tracks and open ground on a hunting lease, it is a lot of fun. If you need to haul feed, look at a Viking.
MT, YZF-R, Ténéré and more
MT-03, MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10 are the naked bikes, from beginner friendly to very quick. YZF-R3, YZF-R7, YZF-R9 and YZF-R1 are the supersport range. XSR700 and XSR900 are the retro-styled versions, and V Star 250 and Bolt R-Spec cover the cruiser side.
Ténéré 700 and Tracer 9 handle adventure and sport touring. TW200, XT250 and WR125R are the dual sports, and a TW200 on a dirt ranch road is about as relaxed as riding gets.
Yamaha Compared With Can-Am, Polaris and Honda
We can line up four brands of side by side in one building, and it changes the conversation. On the utility side, the Yamaha Viking sits next to the Polaris RANGER, the Can-Am Defender and the Honda Pioneer. On the recreation side, the Wolverine RMAX goes up against the Can-Am Commander, the Polaris GENERAL and the Honda Talon. For ATVs, the Grizzly and Kodiak compare with the Can-Am Outlander, the Polaris Sportsman and the Honda FourTrax Rancher.
Each one has a different character. Step-in height, visibility over the hood, how the seat feels in work clothes, cab and roof options, and how easy the bed is to dump with gloves on all matter more on a working day than any brochure figure. Yamaha's reputation rests on reliable engines and solid build, and you can judge the fit and finish for yourself with the others parked beside it.

Yamaha Service and Parts in Sebring
Our service department maintains and repairs Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs and side by sides on site: oil and filter changes, CVT belt and clutch work on the Wolverine and Viking, differential and final drive fluids, brakes, bearings, tires, chains, valve clearance checks, fuel injection and electrical diagnosis.
Two things wear Yamaha machines out in Highlands County. The first is fine, dry-season sand, which packs air filters and CVT intakes on side by sides that run pasture tracks and grove rows. The second is water: a Grizzly or Viking that crosses a flooded ditch in the wet season can pull water into the diffs or the belt housing, and it should be checked before it becomes a repair.
We stock common Yamaha service parts and order what is not on the shelf. Roofs, windshields, winches, plows and storage boxes can be fitted in our shop, and it is easier to add them during the deal than to bring the machine back later.

ATV or side by side
An ATV fits through tighter gates, is easier to trailer and costs less. A side by side carries a passenger and a load, and it has a roof, a seat belt and a bed. If more than one person rides together or you haul heavy loads most days, a Viking will earn its keep. If it is one person checking fence, a Kodiak or Grizzly is the faster tool.
Measure gates, row spacing and trailers
Before you choose between a full width RMAX4 and a Compact trim, measure the narrowest gate you pass through and the space between grove rows. Measure your trailer too. We can tell you the width of every Yamaha on the floor, and the right answer is usually obvious once you have the numbers.
Plan the roof and windshield now
In Highlands County a roof is what keeps a machine in use through July and August, and a windshield helps on dusty grove rows. Adding them during the purchase means the machine is ready to work the day you take it home.
Yamaha dirt bikes for young riders
PW50 is the classic first bike, and TT-R50E, TT-R110E, TT-R125LE and TT-R230 step up in size for trail riding on private land. YZ65, YZ85 and the bigger YZ models are motocross bikes for closed tracks. Florida restricts OHV use by riders under 16 on public lands and requires protective gear, so confirm current rules before the first ride.
Buying a used Yamaha
Check the hour meter and ask for service records. On a Wolverine or Viking, ask when the belt was last replaced. Look at the CV boots, A-arms and skid plates for damage, and feel for play in the wheel bearings. On a used bike, check the chain, tires and fork seals. Ask us what we checked and what has been replaced on any pre-owned unit.

The Wolverine RMAX is a recreation machine with more suspension travel and sportier handling, though it still has useful cargo space. Choose the Viking for ranch chores and the RMAX for trail riding.
Is the Yamaha Grizzly or Kodiak better for a ranch?
The Grizzly EPS is the better choice for heavy towing, big racks and long days, because it has more power and standard power steering.
