Passengers and cargo decide this, not terrain. If you ride alone, work narrow tracks and want to shift your weight through rough ground, a FourTrax is more nimble and easier to store and trailer. If people ride with you, or you need a bed, a roof and seat belts, a Pioneer is the better tool. Both handle property work in this county perfectly well.

Take the transmission choice seriously

Honda gives you manual, electric shift and automatic DCT, and most people dismiss the automatic without trying it. On slow work where you are stopping, starting and reversing constantly, DCT is noticeably less tiring. Ride one before you decide. It is the single option customers most often tell us afterwards that they are glad they took.

First motorcycle

Roads around Sebring and Avon Park move fast and there is a lot of agricultural traffic. A Rebel 300, Rebel 500 or CB300R gives a new rider a low seat, manageable weight and enough power to stay safe in traffic without being intimidating. Sit on several, make sure you can get both feet down comfortably, and take a rider training course before you size up.

Work out what you actually need to run, which for most households is a refrigerator, some fans, lighting, phone charging and any medical equipment. That is a smaller generator than most people buy. Purchase it in spring rather than the week a storm gets named, because that is when stock disappears everywhere. Never run a generator inside a house, garage, carport or screened porch. Carbon monoxide is the real danger and it takes lives in Florida every season.

Buying a used Honda®

Honda resale is strong, which is a compliment to the machines and a caution about pricing. A clean used Rancher or Rebel will not be cheap, and one that is unusually cheap normally has a story behind it. Check hours rather than miles on an ATV or side by side, ask when the valves were last inspected on a motorcycle, smell the fuel if it has been sitting, and confirm the title is clean and in the seller's name.
